Interclub 2008

Don't look back!
Scott Marr leads the fleet on Messenger across the start line at Erie, Pennsylvania Close to an Orgasm. Art Alyea (Air Fair) dreaming on Messenger about how to beat the Dreamer. Tim Fitzgerald, Ron Sinden, and other Port Doverites work out on Special K.

Port Dover Yacht Club sailboats brought honour once again to the club during the 51st Lake Erie Interclub Cruise.
The five-day race was marked by high winds, a series of fronts that caused some hair raising moments and lots of great racing. About 70 boats from the U.S. and Canada participated this year, some were forced to stop following technical difficulties. Many persevered and enjoyed some fierce competition on the water and great friendships on land.
Every year participating in the race is a feat in itself. The following PDYC boats participated: Ritual, Messenger, Tenacity, Orgasm, Flashdancer, Promise, Eerie Witch, West Wind and Shaibu. Port Dover Racing Division boats included Scorpion, Special K and Goldfingers.
Many PDYC boats had some impressive performances starting with Ritual, skippered by John Vallee: a 9th place finish overall and a first in B fleet. Ritual also took the Ivey Cup in the Long Point Bay race. Messenger skippered by Scott Marr finished 12th overall with a second place finish in C fleet.
Orgasm skippered by John Morey had an incredible run in the Port Colborne to Point Abino race, finishing 8th that day. Bear of the Buffalo Yacht Club, skippered by Bill Graf won the overall first place finish – a great performance. Congratulations to everyone who participated.
Thanks to all volunteers who helped make the visit in Port Dover happen. We’re looking forward to next year.
